Come Monday this piece of lovely will be replaced with a brand spanking new stainless steel flat top stove. I have tried to work with this guy, despite the fact that I strongly suspected the insides to be stuffed with old food and dead bug parts, I was trying to rise above that, until the day Nolan almost burnt himself on the stove top one day when I was baking something in the oven and we figured out that the ENTIRE stove was hot to the touch from the oven being on, EXCEPT for the outlet area, the area where the access heat is supposed to get some relief, which was cold as stone.
I was then put on ‘don’t ever use the oven again’ high alert, which subconsciously caused a cooking strike in our house, which in turn made for a lot of boring sandwich dinners and a very empty fridge. So this week we bit the bullet and bought a new stove, one that matches all the other pretty new appliances in the kitchen and one that no doubt is going to send me into a frantic cooking binge. I look forward to that, and I am sure so do Greg and Nolan.
September isn’t even over and I’ve already gotten Nolan’s Halloween outfit! This is positively unheard of. It would have been unheard of if I had found this three days before trick-or-treat night, let alone almost a whole month before!
Nolan’s current obsession is Curious George. After he saw it in the movie theater this Summer he enjoyed it so much we bought him a DVD of it after, and he’s since been quoting it all day every day. This week Greg and I were talking about what we thought Nolan might like to be for Halloween and a monkey was the easy answer. Today I was spending my birthday money at Old Navy and lo and behold they had racks full of adorable kids costumes, and the monkey costume was there for the grabbing. To top it off they were on sale!! Is it just me, or is it odd that Halloween costumes are already on clearance?
At home Nolan wanted to try it on immediately, and took off quoting his favorite scenes this time completely in character. He loves wearing it , and I have a feeling by Halloween it’s going to be covered in dog hair, food, apple juice, dog slobber, and most likely these days; some poop.
Since last week Nolan has been going to pre-school and it’s been an adjustment. The fun school part of it he’s been enjoying, but it’s the seperating from us, especially his daddy, that’s been tough. Last week we were able to drop him off and pick him up at his class room which happened without a hitch, but this week started the curb-side drop off and pick up and they’ve been the reason for some serious tears by Nolan, and some near tears by daddy. Thus today I got to drop him off, and it looked like he hopefully turned a corner. He wasn’t happy about being dropped off once again, but from the stories I heard from Greg, it wasn’t near the drama Greg had been privileged to. his teachers also told Greg later that during the day he’d been a whole lot better than the two before. So things are looking up.
I can already see some great blossoming of his personality happening as a result of fun and interaction and teachers and story time and friends and playground time and sandboxes and all that. He’s becoming goofier every day.
Here he’s created a bed from a roll of wrapping paper and the pillow from his bed, on the diningroom floor.
And this is a little something he came up with this afternoon.
Other than that- his new favorite snack; Popcorn. His new favorite movie; Curious George.
Today we finally primed the shed- twas one of those things we saw on our to-do list, but it was just plainly too dang hot to do anything about it. Lately it’s been cooling down some though so Greg bit the bullet and got going on it.
Me, and even Nolan thought we’d lend a hand and got nice an sloppy in the process.
I think Nolan’s been getting inspired by all the biking we’ve been doing. He doesn’t usually touch his bike, but he was all into it today.
For eachother’s Christmas presents this year we are both getting bikes. Greg got his this week, I will get mine soon enough. Today Greg took Nolie for a spin through town for two hours, I took a couple of pics when they got back
We are trying to decide if Nolan needs a bigger helmet. This one just seems a little tight, no?

Nolan couldn’t get enough, he was requesting another trip for the very next day as soon as he got back.
